Crazy Katsu

After Roku, here's another Japanese joint for ya'll Jap food fans out there!

Crazy Katsu is one of the semi-new food shops along Maginhawa (well, I mean fairly new against Friuli and the Snack Haus). It doesn't have an elaborate menu, more like straight to the point. You only have few choices, however, they don't disappoint. Must try are their gyoza and katsudon.

Roku

A fairly new metro-Japanese restaurant in Katipunan. We've been seeing a really huge tarp atop Oracle building and thought we had to get it over with. Hihi. I am a big fan of Japanese food and I had been eagerly looking forward to this day. Finally!

My verdict: Well, it's ayt. Lol. Okay, average I think. Or less than that. :s The food items were quite overpriced. I'm saying this based on my countless visit to Japanese fastfood and legit Japanese restos around Makati.

Oh well. You just have to try Roku for yourself. Then let us know. :)

He was all smiles. :)

The Chocolate Kiss Cafe

The Chocolate Kiss Cafe, or ChoKiss as what the local UPD students call it, has undeniably gone a "Legend" status. It is one of those places students brag about UP, aside from the Sunken Garden and The Naked Man.

We visit ChoKiss during "splurge" moments only because their menu offers dishes up our average food expense budget. Even so, they never fail to satisfy us.

Chicken a la Kiev 205php

Salisbury Steak 220php

I always enjoy their mashed potato. It's the right taste of salty, sweet, and mildly sour. Too bad it goes straight to my thighs. Lol. Try the ChoKiss brewed iced tea too and ask for additional calamansi for it. J

Chill Out Tea

Cocoa Foam Cheese 90php and Mixed Berry Tea 65php
photo © Eat Your Way UP

We've been fans of Chill Out since day one. Back when they were just starting, they had this promo called Buy Two, Get One which we would take advantage of by ordering our favorites - Cocoa Foam Cheese, Wintermelon Milk Tea and Lychee Yakult. Sadly, they took down the promo a few weeks after.

We've tried so many cocoa foam cheese drinks and to tell you all the truth, Chill Out's concoction is the number 1 for us. It's very very very chocolatey (we cannot stress this enough) and has the right (more than the others') amount of creamy cheese and salt.

Chill Out is a staple place to go to not only because of its proximity but because of the wide-range menu they carry, the above-average service they provide and more than anything else, the excellent taste of their products.

What is Eat Your Way UP?

Eat Your Way UP is a blog authored by two graduates (STFAP Bracket 9 before the restructuring) and now employees of the University of the Philippines Diliman. For many years we have eaten at various food joints in and around the campus and have come to love (and hate) some of them.

We decided to create this page because we'd like to share our thoughts about what and where we've eaten. This blog will serve as a reference not only to the dear Isko and Iska but also to those who wish to discover food places within and nearby the UP Diliman vicinity like Katipunan, Krus na Ligas, Maginhawa (and Teachers' Village in general), etc. That and some other small barangays inside the campus you never knew existed.

Here and there we'd insert restaurants far from the UP Campus.. just because. :D

We do hope you'd join us in discovering new food stalls, shops, and restaurants to like or in returning to those which have made our hearts and stomachs grumble with delight.

Happy Eating! ♥
