Friuli Trattoria

Friuli Trattoria is one of the old members of what we call "Maginhawa Group of Companies". Lol. But even with the arrival of its new competitors like Crazy Katsu, Baliwag Lechon, and a number of tea and coffee places offering Italian dishes too, Friuli stays on top of its pasta game.

Most of their pasta orders are big for a solo diner that's why I think this is a good shop for a couple or a group of friends craving for Italian cuisine.

We weren't in the mood to order pizza during our visit so I can only show you a couple of orders we had. But I recommend Hawaiian and Pancetta if you're ordering pizza.

Toasted Ravioli (130php) and Peanut butter banana shake (~100php)

Giant pieces! Good for 2 persons.

Meat inside

Tuna and mushroom pasta. I was craving for a spicy dish and this is the closest they got.
It was delicious. Good for 2 persons too.

PS: You can order additional parmesan cheese for 10php (around 3 tablespoons of crushed parmesan) and they have dried crushed chili and other condiments on the table. Enjoy!

Cool Beans Cafe

This is what we've been waiting for in Maginhawa all these years. A resto/cafe and mini-lib in one! When I first entered this shop, Oh. My. Gosh., I felt so happy. The books, the ambiance, the taste of their food, ALL EXCEPTIONAL. I chose Horrid Henry's Mighty Joke Book for a bit of a light read while eating and, man, we were laughing like crazy!

One thing we'd complain about here is the cost of their food. It's quite pricey. The frappucinos cost 130php. Check out their menu below:

Cupcakes by Gremlins

Another cupcake joint has opened along Maginhawa. Seriously, what's with all this cupcake trend?

Anyway, we just had to try cos you know, Gremlins, those ugly gits who multiply when water hit them. We were so curious if the store name is THE motif.

Unfortunately, it isn't. The store was designed in a dainty floral kind of style. Very tidy shabby chic kind. I like it, although it doesn't give justice to the name.

As for the cupcakes, well, they're okay. I could only finish one cos I felt they were too sweet for me. The price was alright - one of the good points for this shop.

McDok's Sizzling

McDok's Sizzling in Area 2, UP Diliman, for me, probably has the best-tasting steak and sisig within the campus. Not to mention their prices aren't that expensive. But I think the best part of McDok's service is their free soup, which is not just plain soup but a quality starter served to the diners. Other carinderia would serve boiled water mixed with chicken bouillon but theirs is different. Sometimes they'd have free misua soup, sometimes egg, sometimes molo. It was happiness for me. Lol.

Check them out!
